The Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Paul V. Hamilton School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences - Department of Fine Arts will present Calan in concert at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14th at the Sam and Sue Mars Performing Arts Center of Duke Hall.

Calan bring together the remarkable talents of 5 young musicians giving a fresh and vibrant sound to traditional Welsh music. With a contemporary and lively approach they breathe new life into the old traditions through their sparkling melodies, foot tapping tunes and spirited and energetic performances of Welsh step dancing. They blast their way through some of the old favourite reels, jigs and hornpipes with fast paced and uplifting arrangements before melting into some of the most beautiful and haunting songs.

10:00 AM - 3:00 PM Charles Kirkland Art Gallery Exhibit: Shapes and Colors in Different Forms

Lincoln Memorial University's School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences' Art Program would like to invite you to a reception for Charles Kirkland's exhibition Colors and Shapes in Different Forms at the Cumberland Gap Arts Center on Thursday April 5, from 5-7pm.

With this body of work, Kirkland explores shape and color with a myriad of different processes. The bold coloration and intense hues combine to both make distinct borders and breakdown specificity in both two and three dimensions. These seven works span from painting, to wall sculpture, to free-standing objects. They are a means to explore the artists creative gifts and the processes within which he focuses them.

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Crit Night

The Arts Humanities and Social Sciences Events Committee in conjunction with the LMU Art Club is proud to announce the rescheduled Crit Nite on April 4 from 7-9pm at the LMU Center for the Arts in Cumberland Gap.

The goal of this event is to bring together creative students and individuals across the humanities and all of LMU to interact with each other and share their works and ideas. We seek work from visual artists, performing artists, writers, songwriters, metalsmiths, fashion designers, quilters, photographers, and any other creative folks to come down and give and receive feedback, make contacts, and find a welcoming supportive community.

LMU art faculty will be on hand to assist and participate but this evening is envisioned as one primarily led by the participants. This is a time to share visions and opinions with your peers, not to have a professor lecture.
