Firelight Learners: Explore National History Day

Event Description:
On Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at 3:30pm, homeschool, public, and private school students can join the Program Coordinator of the ALLM and the staff of the Carnegie Vincent Library to learn how they can participate in National History Day, a yearly competition where students can build their historical knowledge, develop their communication skills while tapping into their unique talents, and even win prizes and scholarships. What National History Day (NHD) is
How NHD works at the local, state, and national levels
How NHD appeals to students who see history as "boring"
How NHD can be used in a variety of disciplines, including English and history
How NHD can build your students' critical thinking and writing skills
How you can develop a plan of action to use NHD with your students

This special Firelight Learners session is open to anyone, home school student and/or parent, plus public or private teachers and/or students who would like to attend. Participants may receive a Certificate of Participation (not a university credit or CEU) at the end of the lesson. Though free, registration for this event is required.
