https://www.lmunet.edu/school-of-arts-humanities-and-social-sciences/ #lmuartLincoln Memorial University's School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences' Art Program would like to invite you to visit our latest art exhibition and reception at the LMU Center for the Arts. We are pleased to present Rock and Birsd by artist Amy Evans on display from January 6 - February 26, 2025. There will be an artist's reception on Wednesday February 26, 2025 from 4-6pm. Light refreshments will be provided. This exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
Amy Evans makes pottery that functions as a vehicle for self-expression. Joy and meaning are found in the making of objects that weave into life through use. The idea that the complexities of art and food can exist in the same plane fuels an understanding that this interaction can provide joy and value in our daily lives.
Nature and the natural are inspirations for the surface treatments. Inspiration is often found while the artist is hiking or walking her dogs. In her youth, family members blessed Evans with a love of nature in the gardens and the woods on the family farm.
The LMU Center for the Arts houses the Art Program at LMU and is nestled in the historic town of Cumberland Gap, TN. The Art Program and the Gallery at the LMU Center for the Arts strives to bring cutting edge contemporary art from local and regional artists to the LMU community. We aim to foster conversation about the place of visual arts and how they impact the diverse community of Appalachia in the 21st Century. The LMU Center for the Arts is located at 703 Brooklyn St. in Cumberland Gap and is open Monday through Friday from 10am-5pm, and by appointment.
